Synopsis "A Shore Bird"

About A Shore BirdA Shore Bird is a unique collaboration between photographer and poet, showcasing 23 collaborations between photograph and poem. The first section guides the reader to ascend towards the ridge line, "Black and White." The second section guides the reader to descend to the shore, "A Shore Bird." The epigraph of the book implies that no landscape is ugly for those who can say the hard things. The dedications of the book imply family helps us bear what must be borne and brings us alongside beauty.About the PoetJannett Highfill is a Great Plains and Midwest poet and economist now living in Kansas, having lived for many years in Illinois teaching economics, tariffs and immigration for example, at Bradley University. Her primary research field is applied microeconomic theory, working in such areas as municipal recycling and timing models of instructor response to student decisionmaking. Jannett coauthored A Tempered and Humane Economy: Markets, Families, and Behavioral Economics, Lexington Books, which uses the latter concepts to understand certain micro questions of interpersonal relationships and macro questions such as those related to poverty and wealth. The landscape of her poetry is the faultline between austerity and abundance while she herself relies on the welcoming community of First UMC, downtown Wichita, and especially her family: brother, sister, cousins, niece, nephew, and their families. Her poems have appeared in Young Ravens Literary Review, Rhino, Common Ground Review, The Iowa Review, The Greensboro Review, Flint Hills Review and elsewhere. She has three poetry chapbooks, Light Blessings Drifting Together, A Constitution of Silence, and Brown Restless Green.About the PhotographerAndy Moore Jr has been a professional photographer for over 7 years and is currently studying Aerospace Engineering at Wichita State University. He is a certified commercial sUAS Pilot: trained in flight operations, risk mitigation, and leading a team in commercial drone work."Share the world through the lens."Andy has a deep love for photography, starting from using his father's film camera, and translating that passion into everything he does. His work includes many genres of photography, including art, nature, architecture, weddings, drone work, and astrophotography. There is always some activity in the outdoors he loves to do, like hiking or camping while working to constantly share the world through the lens. He splits time between Austin, Texas and his home town of Wichita, Kansas.
