الكاتب والفيلسوف والشاعر والرسّام اللبناني (1883-1931) الذي شقّ طريقه من بلدة بشرّي النائية إلى العالميّة، نجح، بإنتاجه الغزير، في إثراء المكتبة العالميّة، وليس العربيّة فقط، عبر كتبٍ دخلت التاريخ بوصفها من كلاسيكيّات التراث الأدبي الإنساني. ليس "التائه" سوى اسم آخر لـ"المجنون". فيه يكمل جبران نقده للتقاليد الاجتماعية وسخريته من ازدواجية البشر والتناقضات التي تفتك بنفوسهم. يلخّص جبران نظرته الوجودية من خلال مجموعة من القصص-العِبَر، بأسلوب نثري تُمليه رومنسيته الأصيلة، ونزعة صوفية نابعة من إيمانه بوحدة الوجود. صدر "التائه" عام 1932، بعد سنة على وفاة جبران.
