Amore bendato, testo uscito dapprima in appendice alla "Nuova Antologia" di Francesco Protonotari e poi in volume nel 1875, esemplifica la narrativa fariniana: sentimentale, moralistica e soprattutto di intrattenimento. Non dunque il racconto sociale di stampo verista, ma semmai quello umano e più europeista alla Charles Dickens (a cui spesso viene giustamente accostato). Il romanzo è stato in passato tradotto in diversi paesi, riscuotendo un grande successo di pubblico e di critica. Farina, dopo anni di oblio ingiustificato, merita oggi un giusto riconoscimento per aver contribuito fattivamente a elevare il nostro standard culturale e morale.
