Brendan Powell Smith, born on September 7, 1973, is an American author and artist known for creating The Brick Bible, a series that narrates biblical stories using LEGO® dioramas. Under the pseudonym Brendan Powell Smith, he has published numerous works, including The Brick Bible: A New Spin on the Old Testament (2011), The Brick Bible: The New Testament (2012), and The Brick Bible: The Complete Set (2013). These books are known for their meticulous LEGO® illustrations and have been translated into several languages. Additionally, he is the author of Assassination!: The Brick Chronicle of Attempts on the Lives of Twelve US Presidents (2013), which presents historical events through LEGO® scenes.

Although not religious, Smith has studied the Bible, early Christianity, and Judaism, aiming to make the scriptures accessible and appealing to a broad audience. His work is characterized by a unique combination of humor and poignancy, attracting both devout readers and skeptics. Besides his literary work, he creates artistic pop music under the name ɘlbe, and released his debut LP, gɘtting thɘre, in 2016. Smith's innovative narrative approach has garnered international attention, connecting traditional narratives with contemporary art forms.
