Synopsis "Beware the Abyss"

Beware the Abyss is the sequel to the historical novel Return to the Bosque. Teenager Jody Whitman is beaten unconscious and his girlfriend violated when they witness the brutal whipping of a young woman by Whit Anson and Captain Oliver Lewis, owners of saloons and brothels in Fort Worth, Texas' notorious red light district known as the Acre. As Jody grows into adulthood that horrific incident continues to haunt him, his friends, and his family. When his best friend is murdered and the woman he loves savagely beaten, he challenges Anson to a fight in the Acre. Charged with murder, the only one who can attest to Jody's innocence is Captain Lewis' daughter. A final showdown with Captain Lewis brings Jody to the edge of an evil abyss.
