With the help of her cousin and computer genius, Johnny Lee and her childhood friend and photographer, Jessica she manages to be a success. Her seeing eye dog, Buddy, is a retired Police Dog who was injured on the job and retired because of his injuries. Her latest case of trying to find a missing young woman before she is killed may be the one case she will fail at. Her maybe boyfriend, Detective Ross Anderson is her support at the police department. Although Ross is more than willing to work with Gene he is also hoping to get Gene to make up her mind about their relationship. Between her horse ranch and her PI work she has her hands full when everything gets out of control.
