Blood Token - Abigail L. Wilkes

"The islanders say my father is dead. My head says maybe. My heart says no. Good thing I’ve always been more heart than head."

Five years after her father sailed away to battle pirates, Addi is the only one who believes he’s still alive. Since leaving her magically-protected island is forbidden, searching for her father is impossible.

Until the day a stranger makes it through the deadly maze of coral and sandbars protecting her island to her shores: a boy with a too-easy smile and a strange tattoo he won’t explain. He swears he isn’t a pirate-but pirates are the reason Addi lost everything, and trusting him could cost her what little she has left.

Still, he may be her only chance to leave her island and find her father.

But the closer Addi gets to the answers she’s been chasing, the more dangerous one truth becomes: The boy she swore to hate may be the one she can’t leave behind.

Blood Token is an exhilarating YA fantasy of hidden islands, high-seas adventure, and impossible choices where truth could cost everything.
