Synopsis "Bureaucrat"

In his captivating debut novel, Jack Silas presents the sad life of a contemporary everyman. This story of failure delves into the depressive but is delightfully peppered with provocative rants and sagacious aphorisms from Granpa - a voice balancing wisdom and lunacy in honest Southern vernacular. Among its many themes, Bureaucrat explores the poignant psycho-sexual dynamics of strict Protestant mores that seem quaint by today's pornographic standards. Your emotions will run the gamut throughout this irreverent portrait of an average man who is set aside by the 'Neomerikin' meritocracy. Our protagonist must ultimately face himself and the inherent limits of weakness, and in the end discover that righteous indignation is little more than the petulant cry of he who gets what he deserves. Bureaucrat reminds us that while society may evolve towards a better tomorrow, the life of individuals can remain mired in melancholic drudgery.
