L'espèce Myrciaria floribunda (West ex Willdenow) O. Berg, Myrtaceae, communément appelée cambuí, a une distribution naturelle dans les zones de restingas sablonneux de la côte sud d'Alagoas, principalement dans les municipalités de Piaçabuçu et Penedo. Il s'agit d'un arbre fruitier indigène à valeur économique potentielle, dont les fruits sont très appréciés, qu'ils soient frais ou transformés. La plante est utilisée comme plante médicinale et ornementale et dans les projets de boisement urbain. Toutefois, en raison d'une occupation urbaine et agricole désordonnée, l'espèce court un risque considérable d'extinction dans l'État d'Alagoas, ce qui nécessite des études visant à maintenir sa diversité génétique dans l'État.
