Die Arbeit stellt die erste umfangreiche Werkmonographie zu dem galanten Dichter Christian Friedrich Hunold alias Menantes (1680-1721) dar. Sie beinhaltet auch ein aktualisiertes Verzeichnis seiner Schriften Ausgehend von der Konjunktur eines galanten Interaktions- und Kommunikationsmodells zwischen 1680 und 1730 werden an der exemplarischen Textproduktion Hunolds zentrale Elemente dieses Modells für die deutsche Literaturgeschichte untersucht. Neben der Frage, inwiefern sich die galante Literatur im deutschsprachigen Raum von derjenigen in Frankreich unterscheidet, gilt besonderes Augenmerk ihrer transitorischen Funktion an der Schwelle zur kulturellen Ausdifferenzierung modernen Gesellschaften. Dieser wird auf verschiedenen Feldern wie Verhaltenslehre, Epistolographie, Poetik, Rhetorik und Theologie nachgegangen, wobei jeweils nach den prozessualen Dynamiken gefragt wird, die ein galantes Modell entfalten konnte.
