Besch ftigt man sich mit der Person Ernst Henricis, so kommt man nicht umhin, ihn kritisch zu betrachten. Insbesondere seine Entwicklung zum Antisemiten kann und darf nicht gesch nt werden. Auf der anderen Seite gab es jedoch auch Henrici, den Kolonialabenteurer, der einige Zeit in der ehemaligen deutschen Kolonie Togo verbrachte. Er scheiterte als Pflanzer, doch die M he, die er sich mit dem Erwerb der afrikanischen Sprache Ephe (auch Ewe) machte, muss man honorieren. Das Ergebnis ist das hier vorliegende Werk. Henrici hat ein Lehrbuch geschaffen, das in die afrikanischen Sprachen einf hrt und die Besonderheit ihrer Grammatik erl utert. Er gibt bungen zu Dialekten und Mundarten der Ephe-Sprache und pr sentiert einen W rterbuch-Abschnitt. Sorgf ltig bearbeiteter Nachdruck der Originalausgabe von 1891.
