What if consciousness isn’t confined to the brain… and grief can knock back? Neuroscientist Daniel Mercer has spent years insisting that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Then a stranger’s neural scan begins reproducing the impossible heartbeat of Daniel’s dead daughter. The anomaly opens a doorway into the Lattice, a hidden field connecting memory, identity, consciousness, and perhaps something beyond death itself. As children around the world begin drawing the same mysterious symbol, Daniel and scientist Mara Chen uncover an experimental network known as the Choir. Its promise is extraordinary: synchronize human consciousness, ease trauma, quiet fear, and bring people closer together. But peace has a cost. Individuality begins to fade. Drawn into the breathtaking City Behind the Mind, Daniel encounters intelligences humanity has interpreted as masters, angels, guides, spirits, and gods. They offer no single doctrine and no easy answers. Some disagree about humanity’s future. Some refuse to say what they are. And something else is listening. The Listener believes separation itself is the source of suffering, and it has discovered a terrifying solution. To save humanity, Daniel must confront the limits of science, faith, grief, free will, and love, while answering one impossible question: Can we become more connected without becoming less ourselves? PONDER: The Veil Between Worlds is an emotional metaphysical thriller blending consciousness, speculative science, spiritual mystery, action, grief, and the enduring question of what may exist beyond the reality we think we know. It doesn’t give easy answers. It invites a deeper question. We ponder.
