Synopsis "Powers Postcards"

Powers Postcards: A Journey Through Childhood is a warm memoir by Ray Powers about fatherhood, and the meaning found in ordinary moments. When Ray’s only child arrived in his forty-ninth year, he understood that becoming a father later in life gave him a perspective different from that of many parent. Conscious of time and appreciative of the experience, he began spending his early mornings reflecting on the previous day with his son, Shea. What began as brief recollections shared with friends and family gradually became a collection of “postcards”: small snapshots of childhood, parenting, humor, discovery, disappointment, and joy. Encouraged by those who read them, Ray continued writing until the individual memories began to form the story of a father and son growing up together.
