Synopsis "Radstdter Tauern Pass"

Radstdter Tauern Pass (el. 1,738 m (5,702 ft)) is a high mountain pass in the Radstdter Tauern which are in the Niedere Tauern range of the Central Eastern Alps in Austria between Radstadt and Mauterndorf in the state of Salzburg. The pass is crossed by the Katschbergstrae (B 99), which connects Bischofshofen with Sankt Michael im Lungau. In the south the road continues across the Katschberg Pass into Carinthia. At the pass is the Obertauern ski resort. The road probably was already used by the Celtic Taurisci tribe, it was rebuilt as a Roman road during the rule of Emperor Septimius Severus from 193 onwards, leading from Iuvavum (Salzburg) to Aquileia.
