Heutzutage ist das Problem des Recyclings von sekundären Polymermaterialien von aktueller Bedeutung, vor allem unter dem Gesichtspunkt des Umweltschutzes, aber auch aufgrund der Tatsache, dass Kunststoffabfälle unter den Bedingungen des Defizits an polymeren Rohstoffen zu einer wichtigen Rohstoff- und Energieressource werden. Daher ist die Verwertung von Kunststoffabfällen eine dringende Aufgabe. Gegenwärtig gibt es mehrere Möglichkeiten der Verwertung von Kunststoffabfällen, insbesondere das Vergraben im Boden, die Verbrennung, thermische Verfahren und die Herstellung biologisch abbaubarer Polymere. Alle diese Methoden haben jedoch erhebliche Nachteile. In der Monographie werden am Beispiel der Abfälle der Polymerindustrie, insbesondere des Polyethylens und seiner Abfälle durch chemische Modifizierung (Chlorierung, Aminierung usw.) neue Produkte gewonnen, Polymer-Polymer-Systeme geschaffen, die in der Polymerindustrie wieder eingesetzt werden und somit abfallfreie, tonnenarme Technologien bieten.
