Synopsis "Satyriasis Volume 6"

In this final volume of the outrageous and explicit Victorian erotic autobiography, by the anonymous "Walter," we witness the ever more desperate attempts of a middle class gentleman, voyeur and sex addict, to achieve satisfaction for the condition defined by the German psychiatrist Krafft Ebing as "Satyriasis," in his 1886, classic study of sexual "deviance," Psychopathia Sexualis. Walter spent many of his declining years seeking out various forms of deviant sexual behaviour in the brothels of Europe, where he squandered much of his inheritance.Kelvin I Jones, the editor of this series, discusses the literary and historical legacy of the million word autobiography, and the volume concludes with a useful and comprehensive bibliography.
