"Si usted va por la calle y ve a un grupo de chavales quemando un contenedor, seguro que se lo pensara dos veces antes de intervenir para recriminar a los gamberros su incivica actuacion. ¿Por que? Simplemente por miedo. Miedo o incertidumbre -llamelo como quiera-, porque usted no sabe como van a reaccionar estos mozalbetes empecinados en que el contenedor callejero arda como un tizon verbenero. Tambien estoy convencido de que usted, que es una persona con dos dedos de frente, intuira -¡y con muy buen tino!- que, en un primer momento, no conseguira que reaccionen con acatamiento, humildad y arrepentimiento por el acto vandalico que estan llevando a cabo. Todo lo contrario: lo mandaran a usted a la m..., y tendra suerte si no le agreden fisicamente por la irresponsable insolencia de meterse con ellos. Ademas, para mayor desesperacion suya, aunque la calle este bien concurrida, no debe esperar que ningun paseante acuda en su ayuda, ni para sumarse a su demanda civica ni para evitar que lo muelan a palos; mas bien miraran hacia otro lado" (Paulino Castells).
