Synopsis "The After-School Fix"

Every day, it happens the same way: your child gets through school, then falls apart at home. You ask for shoes off, a quick chat, homework started, or "just a bit of help", and suddenly you are in an argument you never planned to have. The After-School Fix is a practical guide to the most volatile part of family life, built around one calming idea: after school is not the time to demand more - it is the time to restore capacity, then guide cooperation. Anika Solmare shows you how to redesign your after school routine so it fits how children actually function when they are tired, hungry, overstimulated, or done with being told what to do. You will learn to read child fatigue signs, spot hunger cues children often express as attitude, and build decompression time that truly helps rather than backfires. Instead of wrestling over every instruction, you will learn how to choose the first demand wisely, use transition time home as a buffer, and set up homework timing that reduces tears and refusal. For parents and carers of primary and secondary school children, this book offers a clear framework and realistic options for different households, temperaments, and schedules. If you are tired of after school meltdowns and recurring parent child conflict, The After-School Fix helps you create an evening routine reset that is calmer, firmer, and more connected - starting today, right at the front door.
