كلّ الوجوه والسبل والذكريات تقود إلى وجهةٍ واحدة حيّ النحاس الدمشقي. يقبع الراوي في لندن الآن، لكن الماضي لم يُغادر رأسه. يلجأ إليه لكي يستريح من أخبار الاقتتال الدموي الذي ألمّ بسوريا في حربها الطويلة. بدّدت الحرب ما تبقّى من أحلام جيل كامل من المناضلين السرّيين والمتمرّدين الذين قوبلوا بالزنازين والمنفى والملاحقات الأمنية، قبل عقود، حين تجرّؤوا على الحلم بالحريّة أو آزادي في الكرديّة. كلّ شيء يبدأ حين يلتقي الراوي بشابّةٍ في مطار إنكليزي. السرد المتدفّق، على لسان البطل غالباً، لا يميّز دائماً ما بين وجه الشابة ووجه أمّها، أي حبيبته السابقة وفاء. يأخذه وجه الشابّة إلى وجه أمّها، وتعيده وفاء إلى سنواتهما معاً في حيّ النحاس، في الغرف المغلقة التي كانت تتسع للحب والحلم والنقاشات الحماسية... خرج من معطف سليم بركات الكثير من الكتّاب الأكراد، لكنّ عربيّتهم لم تحمل التحدّي الذي حملته لغة بركات. نزار آغري فعل. يكتب بلغةٍ ليست لغة أمّه، لكنّه بَزّ الكثير من كتّاب العربيّة بأناقة عباراته وحفره الأخّاذ في شعابها وكنوزها. - الروائيّ العراقيّ صلاح عبد اللطيف All faces, roads, and memories lead only in one direction: Damascene Copper Avenue.
