Standing one evening at the window of her house by the sea, Anne Quirk sees a rabbit disappearing in the snow. Nobody remembers her now, but this elderly woman was in her youth a pioneer of British documentary photography. Her beloved grandson, Luke, now a captain with the Royal Western Fusiliers, is on a tour of duty in Afghanistan, part of a convoy taking equipment to the electricity plant at Kajaki. Only when Luke returns home to Scotland does Anne's secret story begin to emerge, along with his, and they set out for an old guest house in Blackpool where she once kept a room.

Edu Flores (nacido en Zaragoza, España, en 1970) es un ilustrador, docente y autor de literatura infantil especialmente conocido por sus álbumes ilustrados creativos y llenos de imaginación. Se formó en Diseño Gráfico en la Escuela de Arte de Zaragoza y posteriormente obtuvo una licenciatura en Historia del Arte en la Universidad de Zaragoza. Combina su labor como profesor de dibujo y técnicas aplicadas al diseño en la Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón (ESDA) con su trabajo como creador de libros ilustrados dirigidos al público infantil.

Flores ha publicado numerosos álbumes ilustrados con historias originales, muchas de ellas con personajes entrañables y un enfoque lúdico del lenguaje y las imágenes. Entre sus trabajos destacan títulos como Willi, el perro casi verde, Willi en Zaragoza. El gran enigma, Así es Alagón y Los zapatos de Fred Astaire y otras historias increíbles, por el cual recibió el Golden Pinwheel Award al mejor álbum infantil internacional en la Feria del Libro Infantil de Shanghái (2013). Además, obtuvo la medalla de bronce como mejor ilustrador en los Moonbeam Children’s Books Awards (2015) por La madre de Jack.

También ha sido seleccionado para eventos de ilustración internacionales, como la 25 Bienal de Bratislava (2015), por su trabajo El pájaro de las dos jaulas. Su estilo se caracteriza por una mezcla de técnicas clásicas y contemporáneas, con una clara apuesta por el dibujo manual y el uso del color como elementos narrativos.

Andrew O'Hagan (born in 1968 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish novelist and essayist, known for his ability to intertwine fiction and non-fiction in his works. He has been nominated three times for the Booker Prize and has won the E.M. Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2003, he was selected as one of the Best of Young British Novelists by Granta magazine.

Among his most notable works are "Our Fathers" (1999), "Personality" (2003), and "Be Near Me" (2006), all novels that explore identity and human relationships. His novel "Mayflies" (2020) was awarded the Christopher Isherwood Prize and adapted into a BBC miniseries in 2022. His most recent work, "Caledonian Road" (2024), delves into corruption in contemporary London through a narrative reminiscent of Dickens and Zola.
