Synopsis "through many tribulations"

This book, the first comprehensive study of persecution in Luke-Acts from a literary and theological perspective, argues that the author uses the theme of persecution in pursuit of his theological agenda. It brings to the surface six theological functions of the persecution theme, which has an important paraenetic and especially apologetic role for Luke's persecuted community. The persecution Luke's readers suffer is evidence that they are legitimate recipients of God's salvific blessings.

Scott Cunningham (1956–1993) was an influential American writer specialized in Wicca and natural magic. He studied creative writing at San Diego State University, but left his studies to dedicate himself fully to writing. Throughout his career, he published more than 50 books, many of which have become fundamental references within neopaganism and alternative spirituality. His accessible and practical approach allowed numerous readers to approach Wicca in an individual and personalized way.

Among his most notable works are Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs (1985), Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (1988), The Complete Book of Incense, Oils and Brews (1989), and Encyclopedia of Crystals, Gems, and Metal Magic (1987). These titles have been translated into several languages and continue to be popular among practitioners of natural magic. Cunningham passed away in 1993 at the age of 36, but his legacy endures as a significant influence in contemporary spirituality.
