Synopsis "Tibets Sachse (in German)"

Der Autor und Buddhologe, Maler und Mystiker Lama Anagarika Govinda (1898-1985) wurde in Sachsen geboren und trug ursprünglich den Namen Ernst Lothar Hoffmann. Seit früher Jugend bis zu seinem Tod schuf der mit dem klassischen Tibet-Buch "Der Weg der wei en Wolken" berühmt gewordene Autor ein gewaltiges Werk. Seine literarischen Arbeiten umfassen philosophische Abhandlungen, Lyrik, Drehbücher, Reisebeschreibungen sowie Texte über Literatur, Kunstgeschichte und Architektur. Im künstlerischen Oeuvre finden sich Gemälde und Zeichnungen, die sein Leben in Italien, Afrika, Indien und Tibet widerspiegeln, aber auch Grafiken und Choreografien. Der Dalai Lama würdigte Govindas Leistungen für die tibetische Kultur und Ayang Rinpoche nannte ihn "eine goldene Brücke zwischen Ost und West." Das von Birgit Zotz herausgegebene Buch liefert mit Beiträgen von Ram Chandra Tandan, Peter van Ham, Peter Michel, Volker Zotz und François Maher Presley bislang Unbekanntes und Unveröffentlichtes über und von Lama Govinda.
