High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ycoden-Daute-Isora is a Spanish Denominacin de Origen (DO) for wines located in the western part of the island of Tenerife, (Canary Islands, Spain). It acquired its DO status in 1994. This DO covers nine municipalities including the town of Icod de los Vinos in the north and Gua de Isora in the south. The vineyards are located on the slopes of the Teide, an extinct volcano, at altitudes of between 50 m and 1,500 m above sea-level. The climate in the DO area is one of the hottest in Tenerife, yet the winter temperatures fall low enough for frost to form. Rainfall is relatively high on the western facing slopes of the Teide. Between the months of May and August the trade winds provide humidity. Storms are not frequent but may cause occasional damage in the vineyards.
