Alberto Chimal is a Mexican writer who has primarily focused on short stories and novels. He has also taught creative writing as a professor and popularizer. He is cataloged as "one of the main exponents of Ibero-American fantasy literature". In addition to novels, short stories, and books for children and young adults, he has published essays, writing manuals, and comics, and has worked as a translator and film scriptwriter. Among his novels are Los esclavos, Shanté, and La torre y el jardín. And from his short story books, notable ones include Manda fuego. Antología personal, Toluca, and La mujer que camina para atrás y otras historias.
